BRASSERIE KÁRSNES

New dining place in Reykjavik, new everything, let's do it!

This project started with a newly built gray piece of concrete in a growing construction area in Reykjavik. Ólafur Helgi Kristjánsson or Helvitis Kokkurinn as locals call him saw the opportunity of building the first local dinning place. That newly built gray piece of concrete was purchased which for us was opportunity to “build a door”. For me that meant starting from scratch with creating a full visual and communication concept. Logo, fonts, graphics, pictures and turning that into marketing, menus and so on. Then the exterior design which is the first thing the client meets. For our pictures, I wanted to create a certain style/language signature and back it up with integrating the graphics. Further more, I wanted to make them personal and therefor used Ólafur who is besides being the owner is the head chef. He is a lively and unique character which I wanted to capture and use to attract attention and want people to come meet this guy.BRASSERIE KÁRSNES opened October 2020 and had been a success so far without spending any money and advertising and the stuff I made which is what you see here. The at times funny and staged photos published and social media has been worked. People want to meet Helvitis Kokkurinn. But most of all, his cooking skills are exceptional which along with personality has create a lot of returning customers.

Logo that clearly communicates the product, strong recognition and technically easy to work with.

The icon part of the logo adapted to social media and is a graphic recognition element.

Signature pattern used as graphic recongition element in marketing, pictures and interior design

Main entrance design. Window patterns sticker, shaded mirror and painted driftwood board with brass logo and LED lighting.

EXTERIOR DESIIGN

Picture style/language, a communication I work very intensely with. I wanted to give all pictures the same feel and add the signature pattern. Further more, I staged the main chef in order to make it personal. He is a unique character which I wanted to brand and therefor did some "eventful" photos which certainly get people curious and come meet this interesting guy.

MAIN MENUCARD

Introducing Brunch with banners and brunch menu. I actually had the chef jump in  a very cold winter sea in Iceland to get this shot. A lot of work was put into the picture to archive the right expression. Details create the big picture.
